About

I am a PhD student working with Dr. Sidney Hemming and Dr. Stephen Cox in the Argon Geochronology Lab for the Earth Sciences at Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory. I am fascinated by global fault zones and applying noble gas geochronology techniques to refine seismic histories and larger scale geologic evolutions. Using a variety of mineralogy and radiometric dating techniques, my research interests include the timing of slip along the central creeping section of the San Andreas Fault, the nature and timing of shallow tsunamigenic slip in the Japan Trench, and the extension and collapse of the Rio Grande Rift with associated economic mineralization.

Previously, I worked at the International Ocean Discovery Program’s Gulf Coast Repository at Texas A&M to re-curate the San Andreas Fault Observatory at Depth (SAFOD), the first borehole to intercept regions of seismicity at depth along a plate-boundary fault. Currently, I am working to organize digital records and register all core sections and previously collected samples with SESAR to achieve FAIR principles of data management for the SAFOD project.

I earned a BA in Environmental Biology and a BA in Computer Science with a focus on Intelligent Systems from Barnard College. During my undergraduate years, I participated in medical research studying rare genetic causes of pediatric hearing loss and the detection of SARS-CoV-2 in wastewater, computer science pedagogy for a graduate level computer vision course, and geology research focused on noble gas geochronology method development which evolved into my current research pursuits.

When I’m not in the lab, you can find me running laps around Central Park with the New York Harriers as I train for my next marathon or triathlon - while admiring the fantastic glacial striations, of course! As an avid outdoor adventure enthusiast, I also enjoy a good road trip and pursuing my amateur mineral collecting aspirations.
